Exploring Charlotte and Beyond: A Dog-Friendly Guide
from Elissa, with Samson and Penny by her sideAs the owner of Niftee Pet Services, I am often asked where I like to go with dogs in the Charlotte area. One of the things I love most about having dogs is including them in everyday adventures. Whether it’s enjoying a meal on a patio, meeting friends for coffee, exploring a greenway, shopping, or taking a day trip, there are so many wonderful places where dogs can be part of the experience.
Samson, my Bichon, and Penny, my Collie, love joining me on adventures around Charlotte and beyond. These are some of my personal recommendations and places I have visited throughout Charlotte and the surrounding region. While every business can change its pet policy, these locations have welcomed well-behaved, leashed dogs during my visits.
In this guide, you’ll find my favorite spots organized by neighborhood, from Ballantyne and SouthPark to Matthews, Waxhaw, and Fort Mill, plus a few road trips that are well worth the drive. Grab a leash, pick a section, and go make some memories with your pup.

Final Thoughts
One of the reasons I started Niftee Pet Services is because I understand that dogs are family. Some of life’s best memories are made when they can join us for lunch, a walk, a shopping trip, or a weekend adventure.
I hope this guide helps you discover a few new places to explore with your own canine companion. Have a favorite dog-friendly destination I should visit? I’d love to hear about it.
Happy exploring!
